VOTING QUICK-GUIDE

  • I'm a BGSU student that lives in Bowling Green for school, but I'm not originally from Wood County. Can I still register to vote here?
Absolutely! As long as you have a campus or apartment address, then you can use that address to register to vote in Wood County in just a few minutes.
  • When is the last day I can register to vote before an upcoming election?
You can register to vote up until 30 days before an Ohio election. To see upcoming voter registration deadlines, you can view our calendar of events here.
  • I'm voting in-person - what do I need to bring with me to the polls?
In order to vote in-person, you must bring one of the following forms of photo ID with you: Ohio driver's License, State of Ohio ID card (interim ID forms issued by the BMV are also acceptable), US passport or passport card, US military ID card, Ohio National Guard ID card, or US Department of Veterans Affairs ID card Any form of ID that is not listed above will not count. Whatever form of photo ID you use must not be expired, must have your photograph on it, and must include your full name. Photo ID's with old addresses on them will still work as long as your ID meets all of the above specifications and you have updated your voter registration with your new address. While you don't technically need this, you are also able to bring slate cards or lists of candidates and issues with you to help you remember how you intend to vote, you just can't bring in anything that will be interpreted as campaigning or soliciting a vote from any other voters at your polling location (i.e. buttons, signs, candidate literature, t-shirts with candidates on them, etc.).
  • What if I don't have any of these forms of ID - can I still vote?
If you don't possess any of the above-listed forms of ID, you can still vote using an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots only require the last four digits of your social security number to be submitted, and no other ID is necessary. You can view important deadlines in our calendar of events and find out more about how to vote absentee by visiting the Ohio Secretary of State's Website.
